Hi,I am trying to create an Office 2019 installation package for our environment. The setup and uninstall works fine on a 'virgin' machine. Now, due to the fact that we have purchased licences for various 2013 & 2016 products (Visio and/or Project). If I tellthe system to remove all previous versions with'it works fine.
However if I tell the setup to leave previous MSI products with:Then the setup fails. Unfortunately no immediate pointer in the log file to troubleshoot.
Did anybody encounter a similar issue or even better, has a solution for me?My test setup consisted of Project Pro 2013 (MSI), Visio Standard 2016 (MSI) and Office 2019 (C2R). All 32bit versions.Thanks. Hi Herb,Thanks for your reply.

However that is not what I understand from this page: the article talks about Office 365 but I was under the impression that both Office 365 and Office 2019 both share the same C2R functionality. So if I understand you correctly, I will be unable to install Office 2019 on any OS where there is any of the old MSI-bases Office components (mainly Project and/or Visio)? From looking at the link you've provided, it seems that nevertheless I could keepa 2010/2013 components as those are either Office 14 or 15. Correct? Many thanks for the information.
I did not see your link prior to me posting here.Regards,Pascal. Hi,Sure, as you understand, both Office 2019 and Office 365 use the Click-to-Run installation technology, and they have the same version: 16.0. Office 2019 (volume licensed, C2R) and Visio ( or Project) 2010/2013 (volume licensed, MSI) can coexist because theyuse different installation technologies (Click-to-Run and MSI) and they are different versions.Note:. All installed products must be either the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version. For example, you can’t install a 32-bit version of Visio on the same computer with a 64-bit version of Office. Even though a particular installation scenario is supported, it might not be recommended. For example, we don’t recommend having two different versions of Office installed on the same computer, such as Office 2013 (MSI) and Office 2019 (Click-to-Run).In addition, you can also to coexist with Office 2019 (volume licensed, C2R) because they both use Click-to-Run and are the same version (16.0).Important:.

The Office Deployment Tool uses Click-to-Run to do the installation, instead of using Windows Installer (MSI). But, Project and Visio are still activated by volume activation methods, such asor.
MAK keys that you use for Windows Installer (MSI) installations of Project and Visio won't work with the Office Deployment Tool. You need a different MAK key to deploy volume licensed versions of Project and Visio with the Office DeploymentTool. To get that MAK key, log into the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) and use the key listed under 'C2R-P for use with the Office Deployment Tool.'
